Position: Full-time Grocery Clerk


Store: Dean & Wendy’s nofrills

Location: 1020 10th Street West, Owen Sound

Availability Requirements: Unrestricted (Days, evenings and nights including weekends and holiday where required)


Responsibilities:

  • Excellent customer service
  • Open and close store
  • Train and motivate staff
  • Delegate and prioritize workload for staff
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Merchandising and executing company programs and initiatives
  • Inventory control
  • Ensure proper product rotation as required
  • Receiving, handling and storing of product
  • Ensure pricing integrity
  • Understanding Food Safety and Health and Safety Policies and Procedures
  • Demonstrated understanding of critical success factors for the no frills concept as a discount food store focusing on low price image

Qualifications/Experience:
  • 1-2 years’ grocery experience required
  • Must be able to lift using work safe guidelines
  • Ability to work in a fast pace environment
  • Ability to lift and stand for long periods
  • Open availability with the ability to work varying shifts, including weekends and evenings
  • Demonstrated accountability for entire store in the absence of a manager:
  • key carrying / alarm responsibilities
  • loss prevention
  • health and safety
  • food safety trained
  • first aid trained and power equipment trained
  • Ability to manage and lead a team
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with minimal functional direction
  • Able to multi-task and work well under pressure
  • Knowledge of store systems is an asset (SAP, BOSS, POG)
