Minimum Requirements
- Master’s degree (NQF level 9) in environmental science/agricultural science or related discipline
- Evidence of field-based and/or laboratory research experience
- Supervision of postgraduate students
- Evidence of a publication record
- Valid driver’s licence
Recommendations
- Previous research experience working in the fields of sustainable land management, rangeland ecology or climate change mitigation, adaptation and resilience.
- Teaching at post-graduate level
- Evidence of working with communities and CBOs
- Ability to work independently
Duties & Responsibilities
- Post-graduate student support
- Technical and report writing advice to Honours and Master’s students
- Laboratory assistance (where relevant)
- Field trip assistance including transporting of students and equipment to study sites
- Tutoring and/or teaching of Honours students (where appropriate)
- Mentorship of students
- General project support
- Research and technical support for other Centre-related projects
- Collaboration with SPU academics
- Publication outputs
- Community Engagement support
- Coordinate community based outreach programmes aimed at implementing sustainability projects
- Facilitate community based workshops to capacitate community members
