Senior Investment Associate - Adevinta & International Marketplaces
Our current Senior Investment Associate is moving to a new role and we are looking for an outstanding individual to complete the team. Following the spin-off in 2019 and the acquisition of eBay Classifieds Group in 2020, Schibsted owns 30 percent of Adevinta, a leading European online classifieds group and tech champion. In order to perform our role as an educated, value creation focused and responsible owner, we have established a team that oversees the investment, the Adevinta ownership office at Schibsted. This team consists of both fully dedicated staff and people supporting the ownership office as part of broader roles in the Group. The shareholding in Adevinta represents more than 50 percent of Schibsted´s market capitalisation, and as Senior Investment Associate you will make a big difference on important topics.
The Ownership Office´s role includes:
Advising Schibsted´s representatives on the Board of Directors of Adevinta
Advising Schibsted management and Board of Directors in matters related to the shareholding in Adevinta
Developing a broad business intelligence system enabling Schibsted to be an educated owner of Adevinta
As Senior Investment Associate your particular responsibilities will encompass :
Manage projects related to strategically important topics for Adevinta & Schibsted
Analyse companies, opportunities and threats in the marketplaces industry globally
Strengthen our approach and systems for collecting and analysing critical business intelligence related to Adevinta & international marketplaces in general
Develop and nurture relevant international networks
Understand financial markets and perform proprietary modelling to continuously have a view on the fundamental value of Adevinta and other international marketplaces
Continuously deliver excellent advice to Schibsted executives/the broader Schibsted organisation based on the insights accumulated by performing the aforementioned responsibilities
In addition, you will from time to time work on other new investments and organic initiatives within Schibsted
You will report to the Senior Advisor responsible for the Adevinta shareholding at Schibsted, and work closely with the Group CEO, CFO and the CIO team, and be part of the Group´s Corporate Strategy and Business Development team.
We are looking for someone with the following skills & requirements:
3- 5 years experience from a top-tier strategy consulting firm, private equity fund or acknowledged financial institution
Demonstrated interest in investments and business strategy
MSc/MBA from an acknowledged institution is an advantage
Previous relevant industry knowledge is an advantage, but no requirement
Experience from international environments
Verbal and written fluency in English is a prerequisite, and basic or better command of French, German or Spanish is an advantage

Through your previous work experiences you have been convinced that being on the ground talking to stakeholders often is more valuable than desktop research.
To both enjoy work and succeed in this role you are able to get tasks started without looking for detailed instructions, the judgement to understand what good enough means (80/20 rule) and the stamina to drive until the end. Since the role requires a lot of interaction with senior management, you feel at ease expressing yourself verbally and in writing, with quality.
