Full time term position for Teaching and Learning Assistant at Lake Melville School. Duties to commence September 5, 2023 to June 21, 2024.
Reporting to the Principal of the school the TLA will work with the classroom teacher in supporting the teaching and learning in an inclusive environment in the areas of planning, instruction, social emotional learning, assessment, evaluation and collection of student data.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Assist with the planning and organization of learning experiences for students in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Assist the classroom teacher in implementing programs and services for students including the delivery of instructional supports.
- Assist the teacher in assessing, evaluating, reporting and recording student progress.
- Work collaboratively with the classroom teacher to develop supportive educational environments.
- Participate as a member of school teams in meeting the needs of students.
- Maintain effective professional working relationships.
- Commitment to life-long learning and willingness to enhance skills and knowledge through professional learning.
- Highly effective interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to assist students with alternate format materials and the operation of specialized assistive technologies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Teacher’s Certificate Level Two (2) from the Registrar of Teacher Certification and Records at the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.
Due to the remote location, the successful applicant is eligible for:
Annual Salary Scale contained within the NLTA Provincial Collective Agreement and benefits contained within the agreement.
A one-time $5000 signing bonus stipend for non permanent applicants to be paid in two installments ($2000 in December 2023, $3000 in June 2024).
A one time claim for travel in and out of the community to their home location, if applicable.
